Commercial theatre compounds. When a production finds its audience it doesn't just recoup — it generates licensing income, cast recordings, merchandise, tours, and transfers. The Lion King has been running somewhere in the world every day since 1997. The play that recoups modestly in the West End can become a piece of global cultural infrastructure.

RHP exists to produce work that finds its audience — and keeps finding it.

We produce artistically ambitious, commercially serious theatre by Black and Brown artists. Work that lives in the genres with the biggest audiences: jukebox musicals, romcoms, warm ensemble comedies. Stories told through the female gaze, with a British sensibility at the centre. These are not niche forms. They are among the most commercially successful forms in theatre. What they haven't done yet — not consistently, not at scale — is tell those stories through a Black and Brown lens.

That is the commercial gap RHP exists to fill.

The producer

RHP was founded by Rafia Hussain — selected by Stage One for its 5 at 50 programme, one of five producers chosen from across the UK for the most significant investment in a generation. With a decade of experience in the subsidised sector and a formal commercial producing education, RHP brings rigour, taste, and genuine curatorial selectivity to every production decision.

The investors who understand commercial theatre back the producer as much as the production. They invest in a vision, a track record, and a way of thinking about what theatre can be and who it can reach.

What investing in RHP looks like

RHP works with a carefully selected circle of investors who bring capital and genuine appetite for cultural risk. Investors in RHP productions receive full transparency on development, budgets, and financial performance, priority access to future investment opportunities across the growing slate, and exclusive access to rehearsals, press nights, and private events.

We are currently forming the investor circle for our first production. For the right person, now is the moment to begin a conversation — not after the announcement, but before it.
