About Rafia

A woman with long, curly red hair, wearing a white blouse, a gold necklace with a pink quartz pendant, and red lipstick, smiling softly against a plain gray background.

Rafia Hussain is the Founder and CEO of Rafia Hussain Productions Ltd — a commercial theatre company producing joyful, popular Black and Brown work, built to reach broad audiences and perform commercially.

She quit teaching, spent a decade in the subsidised sector across Manchester and the Midlands, developing a producing practice grounded in artistic rigour, hands-on production, and an instinct for work that finds its audience. In 2024 she co-authored the Producing Producers report with the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama — a significant contribution to national conversations about the infrastructure for racialised producers.

In 2025 she made the deliberate move to commercial producing, incorporating Rafia Hussain Productions Ltd and focusing exclusively on work she believes in — artistically and commercially. Both.

Selected for Stage One’s prestigious 5 at 50 programme — one of five established producers chosen from across the UK — and named Greater Manchester Young Businesswoman of the Year 2026, Rafia is currently in development on RHP’s first production.

Commercial theatre compounds. The right production doesn’t just recoup — it generates licensing, recordings, tours, and transfers across decades.

RHP is producing that kind of work. If you want to be part of it, the Investors’ Circle is where that conversation begins.
